The Turiec Gallery in Martin has been housed in a building of the former county courthouse since 1984. The Turiec Gallery is a museum-type institution with regional scope, determining its focus and kinds of activities. The Gallery regularly responds to the anniversaries and jubilees of artists connected with the city of Martin and the region of Turiec, and presents the work of Turiec artists of various generations through small authorial exhibitions, extensive retrospectives or collective exhibitions. In addition to the exhibitions devoted to regional artists, the gallery also presents the work of established Slovak and Czech artists yet it does not neglect the younger generation of artists either.
