The Tatra Gallery in Poprad was founded in 1960 as an art collection institution. It is based and its activities are realized in the unique premises of the former steam power plant, which is a cultural monument. Within its acquisition, scientific, research, exhibition and educational activities, it presents the work of artists from the wider Eastern Slovakia region, and the art of Slovak and foreign professional artists. Through its activities, it systematically strives to raise awareness of traditional and modern tendencies in the fine arts. The Tatra Gallery has attracted the attention of the cultural public through large-scale multimedia projects and events at the TG Power Station, which are held following the latest art trends in the world. It collaborates with many international art galleries and institutions in the field of contemporary dance, music, film and theatre.
